phylPhyl London, is a Level IV Master Trainer at Healthworks Fitness Center, specializing in Pilates and Group Exercise and is the creator of Bodiphy®. London holds a BS from the University of Massachusetts and a MA in Education from the University of Connecticut.  She has been named to MoveWith 2016 Spark List, winner of Season II Fit or Flop, America’s Next Best Fitness Star, PFP Finalist Personal Trainer of the Year, Finalist Racked Boston Hottest Trainer 2014, Prismsport, LARABAR, RUNA Tea, & G.M. I was a cardio junkie in my 20s. My weekly workouts consisted of excessive running and teaching over 15 cardio classes per week. In 2000 I was diagnosed with mono and badly sprained my ankle during my last long run. I was so exhausted, I could barely train my clients and couldn’t run or teach classes and as you can imagine I became frustrated, extremely depressed and gained weight (50 lbs, to be exact).
As luck would have it Healthworks was offering a Pilates Mat training for its instructors so I enrolled in my first STOTT Pilates course and immediately enrolled in Reformer, Cadillac, Barrel and Chair. It took over 2 years to rehabilitate my body and lose the weight, but Pilates made me stronger everyday and I became leaner with a lot less effort and stress than my old cardio workouts. Plus, it strengthened my core and improved my alignment, balance and control. During this same time, I experimented with a multi-movement strength method that increased my heart rate and gave me that “runner’s high” I was looking for and is now known as Bodiphy®. The dramatic mental and physical changes I experienced inspired me to transition my clients to this new workout philosophy. That was 16 years ago. Since then, I’ve helped hundreds of women to overcome the way they think about exercise and finally achieve their goals, all without excessive cardio.”
